1988 Yamaha TZR250 2XT only 322 miles
1988 Yamaha TZR250 2XT, with only 322 miles on the clock (506 kilometers).
The 2XT is one of the rarest TZR250 models, which many enthusiasts class as Yamaha's first Sport Production model. The 2XT is very rare, only in production for around 6 month for the Japanese market. This 1988 model was fitted with 30% bigger reed block area, nicosil bores and additional auxillory exhaust ports for more power, versus the earlier 1KT model. It boasted wider wheels, larger diameter wheel spindle, a different swingarm, shock and linkage, as well as completely different CDI/ECU and powervalve controller. All these changes made the 2XT a real heavyweight performer, enough to see it banned from many domestic championships due to the 'unfair advantage' it gave to riders.
We have completed a sympathetic, minor restoration, enough to get it through an MOT to allow us to complete the UK registration. This included replacing fork stanchions with new legs, new seals, oil, tyres and battery, along with vapour blasting a few aluminium parts that had started to discolour and paining a the stand and a few small components. The bodywork is all original and unpainted. It has a small scuff here and there, but comes with a set of genuine Yamaha 2XT fairing decals, should the new owner wish to fit them. Also included is the tool kit, the Yamaha owners manual and the sales brochure.
Price for export is £7,000 plus shipping & taxes - for UK customers this means + VAT = £8,400.
